Wait for dry weather.
Trace every batch afterwards.

Every location needs its own answer: which batch went down, when, how the ponding test came out and when the warranty runs out. materialpro keeps the material side straight, from requisition and quote to delivery note, receiving and invoice.

Three material families, three ways of buying

Liquid membranes, sheets and accessories each leak differently

Same trade, but what you buy, how you count it and where it goes wrong all differ.

  1. Liquid membranesPU and cementitious coatings

    What you buy
Base and hardener (or powder and liquid), primer, reinforcing mesh for the coat
    How it is counted
By pail and kilogram; usage follows coat count and area, as stated in the product data sheet
    Where it leaks
Opened leftovers are hard to track, and a two-coat job spread over several days is thrown by one rainy afternoon
  2. Bituminous sheetPre-formed membrane rolls

    What you buy
Rolls, primer, seam treatment and edge details
    How it is counted
By roll; area must include laps and wastage
    Where it leaks
Laps and waste make quantities hard to judge, and top-up orders can arrive from a different batch
  3. AccessoriesPrimer, mesh, sealant

    What you buy
Primer, reinforcing mesh, sealant, waterstop and edge materials
    How it is counted
By pail, roll and tube; small quantities, reordered often
    Where it leaks
Small urgent orders with nobody recording which location used them or who supplied them

Location record card

One card per location, ready before handover or a complaint

For every roof, podium, balcony and bathroom: which batch was used, when it was applied, how the ponding test came out and when the warranty ends. Then check which of the next seven days can take a membrane.

A waterproofer's week

Five things waterproofing contractors lose sleep over

  • “Rain again. Can't apply today, and the material is already ordered.”

    How materialpro helpsDelivery calendar

Expected delivery dates sit on one calendar, so before rain or a typhoon signal, the office and site can both see what is due that day.

  • “Owner says it's leaking again in the warranty period, and nobody can find which batch went there.”

How materialpro helpsDelivery matching · POs

Delivery note photos, AI-extracted items and quantities, and receiving records sit with the PO under the same project, so who supplied a batch and when it arrived is a lookup, not a hunt through the filing cabinet.

  • “Primer, mesh and sealant are small, urgent orders, and I'm phoning round the shops.”

    How materialpro helpsRequisitions · RFQ

Site raises the requisition on a phone, the office asks several suppliers at once, AI helps read each quotation, and the winner converts to a PO.

  • “Same product on the roof, podium and bathroom, and nobody knows where the leftover pails are.”

How materialpro helpsMulti-warehouse stock · transfers

Each site or yard can be its own warehouse. Issues, transfers and returns post to the stock ledger and can be traced line by line.

  • “The invoice comes in and the roll count doesn't match what we received.”

    How materialpro helpsThree-way invoice check

Invoices are compared with the PO and receiving record; price and quantity gaps are listed for your review before payment.

When the complaint arrives

The owner says it's leaking. Your paperwork should answer.

Questioned during the warranty, you need a line that runs from the location to the invoice. materialpro connects the material stretch of it.

materialpro does not replace your application records, ponding test reports or warranty certificates. You keep those as your contract requires.

Trade vocabulary

Words you hear on a Hong Kong waterproofing job

Quotes, handover and warranty all revolve around these terms.

滲水
Water getting through a slab, wall or roof into a flat, and one of the most common building complaints from owners.
Water seepage
蓄水測試
Flooding the waterproofed surface for a set period before screed or tiles go on, then checking for a drop in water level or leaks below.
Ponding test / water test
底油
The first coat brushed on before the membrane or sheet, so it bonds to the substrate.
Primer
聚氨酯 · 水泥基
Two common liquid membranes: polyurethane is flexible; cementitious is used under tiling and in damp areas.
PU / cementitious membrane
卷材
Pre-formed bituminous sheet bought by the roll, with laps that must be treated carefully.
Bituminous sheet membrane
加強網
Mesh embedded in the coat to reinforce upstands and corners.
Reinforcing mesh
保養期
The period after completion when the contractor must repair leaks; the batch and application record usually get pulled in a claim.
Defects liability / warranty period
保護層
The screed or finish laid over the membrane. Once it is down, the membrane is very hard to inspect.
Protective screed
八號風球 · 黑雨
Once either is up, most sites stand down; materials at height are secured and deliveries often slip.
Signal No. 8 / Black Rainstorm Warning
滲水問題聯合辦事處
The office run jointly by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Buildings Department to handle seepage complaints.
Joint Office for Investigation of Water Seepage Complaints

FAQ

What waterproofing contractors ask first

Can warranty dates and material batches tie back to purchasing records?

For each delivery we keep the delivery note photo, received quantities, date, PO and project, so a batch query has paperwork behind it. How batch numbers and warranty end dates are recorded in your own process is something we can work through in a demo.

Rain or a typhoon signal means moving a delivery. How does that work?

The delivery calendar shows what is expected each day, so before the weather turns, the office and site are looking at the same plan.

How do we track leftover pails and rolls?

Set each site or yard up as a warehouse. Issues, transfers and returns post to the stock ledger, so you can see balances by warehouse and trace every movement.

Can we compare prices quickly for primer, mesh and sealant top-ups?

Site staff raise a requisition on their phone, the office requests quotes from several suppliers, AI helps read each quotation, and the best one converts to a PO.

Does materialpro replace ponding test reports or warranty certificates?

No. materialpro focuses on procurement, receiving and stock records. You keep test reports and warranty certificates as your contract requires. How it connects with your accounting system can also be covered in a demo.

Trace every batch through the warranty

Book a demo and we will use your roof and bathroom cases to show how material records are filed by project, from requisition and receiving to invoice.
