Plumbing & drainage · Risers · Floor-by-floor issue
Every riser traced,
every floor papered
Plumbing and drainage is built riser by riser and floor by floor, with dozens of pipe sizes, fittings and valves that each need a source behind them. materialpro keeps requisitions, quotes, receiving and issue under one project, and checks every supplier delivery note and invoice line by line.

Who is watching
Three departments, three sets of paperwork
To account for where material came from, start with who cares about which part.
WSD
Water Supplies Department
Water supply and water fittings. Pipes, fittings and valves on the supply side must meet its requirements, and supply plumbing work is carried out by a licensed plumber.
DSD
Drainage Services Department
The public sewerage and stormwater systems. Where building drainage connects to a public drain, the department's requirements apply.
BD
Buildings Department
Drainage works inside buildings. Plan submission and completion inspection are generally handled through the Authorized Person.
This is the general split only; actual requirements rest with each department and your Authorized Person. materialpro does not file anything with any department. It handles procurement, receiving and issue records.

Five hand-offs from delivery to payment
Every step has someone who must answer for it: where it came from, which floor it went to, whether it was tested, whether the price is right.

Receive
Handled in materialproWhen the truck arrives, site staff photograph the delivery note; items, sizes and quantities are matched to the PO and shortfalls are listed straight away.

Invoice
Three-way invoice check · approvals
A plumbing contractor's week
When pipe stock does not add up, it is usually one of these five

“We finished the 6/F riser and only then found two Y-tees short.”
Site photographs the delivery note; AI extracts items and quantities and matches the PO, so shortfalls are listed on the day of delivery rather than on the floor.
Delivery receiving
“How much more is 25 mm than 20 mm pipe? Three suppliers, three quote formats.”
Send one material list to several suppliers; AI helps read PDF or photo quotes, lays them side by side, and the winner becomes a PO.
RFQ and quote comparison
“Handover is next week and nobody can say which batch went to which floor.”
Every issue posts to the stock ledger and delivery-note photos are kept, so you can follow a batch from receiving through to issue.
Stock ledger
“The invoice says 50 mm, we received 40 mm, and the unit price crept up.”
The invoice is checked against the PO and the receiving record; price and quantity gaps are listed for your review before anything is paid.
Three-way invoice check
“Black rainstorm, typhoon, the truck can't get up. The pump lift date moves again.”
The delivery calendar lists each project's arrivals by day, so a reschedule shows which deliveries it touches.

Trade vocabulary
Words on a Hong Kong plumbing and drainage site
You will see these on quotes, delivery notes and handover documents.
- 立管
- The vertical main running through many floors, managed by number. Issue and handover usually go by riser first, then by floor.
- Riser / stack
- 持牌水喉匠
- A plumber licensed by the Water Supplies Department to carry out supply plumbing work.
- Licensed Plumber (WSD)
- 樓宇排水裝置
- Drainage pipework inside a building. A designated trade under the CIC Registered Specialist Trade Contractors Scheme.
- Building drainage (CIC designated trade)
- 認可文件
- Documents showing a material or fitting meets requirements for its use. They have to tie to the delivered batch.
- Approval / compliance documents
- 污水 · 雨水
- Foul water (toilets, kitchens) and storm water drain separately, in different pipe materials and sizes.
- Foul / storm water
- 閘閥 · 球閥 · 止回閥
- Gate valves isolate, ball valves shut off quickly, check valves stop backflow.
- Gate / ball / check valve
- 分喉 · 寸喉
- Pipe sizes named in inches: 四分 is ½ in, 六分 is ¾ in, 一寸 is 1 in. Quotes often mix them with millimetres.
- Nominal size (inch / DN mm)
- 三通 · 彎頭 · 異徑
- Fittings that branch, turn and change bore. Bought in volume and the easiest line to come up short.
- Tee / elbow / reducer
- 水箱 · 泵房
- Storage and pressurising plant on the roof and in the basement, where the large-bore pipe and valves gather.
- Water tank / pump room
- 水壓測試
- Pressurising installed pipework to check for leaks. The record is part of the handover documents.
- Pressure test
FAQ
What plumbing and drainage contractors ask first
We track by riser and by floor. How does materialpro handle that?
Material is recorded against the project and a cost code, and you can use risers or floors as codes. Every issue posts to the stock ledger and can be traced line by line. How the codes are set up can be shaped to your method in a demo.
Can approval documents and test records live in materialpro?
materialpro's core is requisitions, quotes, POs, receiving, stock and invoices, and the delivery-note photos taken on site are kept as proof of delivery. How approval documents and test records map onto issue records is best discussed in a demo, against how you work now. It does not replace any statutory certificate or file anything with a department.
Pipe is counted in metres and fittings in pieces. How is stock kept?
Each material has its own unit of measure and category: metres for pipe, pieces for fittings and valves. Balances are held per warehouse, and different bores can be kept as separate materials.
How do we catch a delivery with a different size or brand from the PO?
Site photographs the delivery note; the system extracts items and quantities and matches them to the PO, and shortfalls and variances are listed at once. The invoice is then compared with the PO and the receiving record, and price or quantity gaps come to you before payment.
Does materialpro replace our accounting system?
No. materialpro focuses on procurement, receiving and stock records. How it connects with your accounting system is something we can cover in a demo.
